Be a key part of shaping this future as our new Housing Compliance Specialist in our Housing Program.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Housing and Development, the Housing Compliance Specialist provides compliance-related guidance and administrative support for tenant-based rental assistance programs and varying eligibility requirements, referral sources, and service partners. The Housing Compliance Specialist will review housing assistance applications and rental agreements to ensure compliance with program regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Process rental assistance applications from various programs and collaborative partner agencies; document and verify client’s eligibility based on each program’s criteria; provide notification of approval or denial to case manager and client.
- Provide client information to Director as required to ensure the correct reporting of program data and outcomes; enter program service notes into confidential client database.
- Track and report client housing status and time-sensitive information such as annual inspections and recertifications.
- Prepare monthly rental assistance reports by program and maintain monthly tenant history reports; monitor the distribution of subsidy payments to landlords.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or college course work in social services field or equivalent combination of education and experience in housing industry. Candidates should have professional experience working in social services or as a realtor, property manager or housing specialist as well as strong knowledge of the Santa Clara County housing market and of housing subsidy voucher programs. Minimum 2 years experience reading, preparing, or tracking financial components and document compliance of a program or project and minimum 1 year experience working in housing or related field.
Desired: Bilingual, bi-cultural and bi-literate skills highly preferred. Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese languages. Prior experience providing case management or advocacy-based counseling highly preferred. Motivational Interviewing skills highly preferred.
Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, valid California driver’s license, and auto insurance. Must have completed or be willing to complete a 65-hour California State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor certification. (Training will be provided).
