HUD has just finalized a new rule that would make it unlawful for owners or property managers of HUD assisted housing or housing utilizing FHA loans to discriminate based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender.  This new rule also targets practices that restrict access to (LGBT) persons in federal housing and homeownership programs by expanding the definition of “family” which is a hotly debated topic amongst a majority of the country.  This prohibition will also effect HOME and the project based voucher program.
